Where to live ...

If you've talked to me in the last 1/2 year I've probably quizzed you about where you have lived and how you liked it. We love San Francisco but we want to own a house again (A WHOLE house!). This takes most of SF off the list. There are a few areas that we have been considering in SF (Glen Park, Bruno Heights). Lately we have been leaning towards East Bay .. my feeling is if we live in East bay we should be within walking distance of BART but the Realtors keep telling me that we shouldn't limit our search. I just feel like if I have to drive all the time .. I might as well live somewhere cheaper. We still haven't counted out other areas (maybe south bay) or other parts of the country ... in fact we are going to check out the DC area this summer.

I would to hear your opinions ...

RE:

There are several areas in the East Bay that rock:

1. Walnut Creek
2. Alameda
3. Berkeley

If you want a whole house, I guarantee you that in San Diego, you could pick one up for $650K.

What about Oregon or Florida? Both of those states don't have taxes...

I am thinking NYC for me (I am single, so its a different story), but I don't know if I could ever leave California. I like it too much. Have you thought about Southern California? DC will definitely entail DoD type positions (don't know if you are willing to work for a company like that).

Hope that helps..
